Your fix worked on a 6 yr old Dell Inspiron 1150 .... This solution generates heaps of errors when installing however you simply reboot the computer, log in, and reboot again it it installs flawlessly. Thanks to "Lexxion" who wrote this great solution. The driver is from an old OS and we are essentially hacking/bodging it onto a newer, and still beta version of the OS so I would expect issues, as said several I've spent the last few days trying to find a decent driver just like everyone else, and I even tried that so-called Vista compatible one, which actually did nothing for me. I hope this will help. see here I done another fresh install and relized it eventually installed the video driver by itself after 4 or so restarts (while connected to internet) Try putting a shortcut to "Device Manager"
After install you will see a message saying that certain devices did NOT installed successfuly, which is GOOD . I did all given steps until 7. Intel 915 cheapset does NOT crash in Windows 7022! Your phenomenally indirect fix worked like a charm on this impossibly old HP Pavillion dv1000 (to be precise, it's a dv1010us) that I've got Win7 running on quite nicely.
However I do believe it might not work with certain models but worth to try. For Windows XP. Go to "Security" tab. I followed all of the steps and the PC still tried to install drivers itself.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Any takers?
