XP mode is free and can be used with the Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate versions only. Roxio 5 did OK with 98 but had some serious driver and control issues with XP that caused lots of headaches. But either way I suspect the suspect the basic tenets of the pervious post are true. Please refer to our CNET Forums policies for details. This gives you several options. Because when I install the xp driver that came with it the driver under device manager has the little yellow symbol next to it meaning the driver is not properly installed. Windows 98SE is actually not too bad at handling mass storage drivers for a USB storage device IF you have a driver disc that accompanied it or a download is available.

The last version of Microsoft Office capable of running on Windows 98 is Office XP.
Hardware requirements can be bypassed in the setup with the undocumented /nm setup switch. Thank you for helping us maintain CNET's great community. If they know how to do that, you should ask them. Sure wish I could do this job for the old lady.
